  If all situations that contain a location condition are "OFF", then Locale will not check your location.

  Why does it still keep checking location when you have turned all of your conditions with locations off? When you select to disable locations and you select that for all location based conditions, then it shouldn't check location.

  It would be nice to just turn it off entirely as a setting. That way you can just turn it off at night for example.

  This is a very welcome option now that Locale can not change the GPS settings anymore. This is also useful at night, because I already have a sleeping profile (although it would be cool in combination with 'Not on conditions' to post a twitter update saying SCORE!!! when I am not at home during sleeping hours ;) )

  Reopening.

  The overall design of the Developer Platform has changed over the last several months. An upcoming version of Locale will no longer check location if there are no location conditions defined.

  First, the tip to remove all locations (not just location-based conditions) seems to work, I no longer see the gps icon ever time my screen turns on and hopefully my battery will last a little longer today. But I will agree that it should only check your location if you have conditions that require it AND they are enabled.

  Locale is working as designed and checks your location ONLY when locations are defined in the Locations app. This is part of Locale's 3rd party Developer Platform, and actually reduces battery usage.

  To disable location checks, simply open Locations and remove all of your locations. (This is different from removing Location conditions).

  This is the original poster and im not sure how, but im on my phone and it logged me in as someone else. ive never let anyone log in from my phone on this website, so its possibly based off of ip address.

  I understand how it works, but im requesting either a global option to disable the location checking or when i dont have any situations that depend on location, then to have locale not check my location. For example, i have a few situations that depend on time or the level of my battery, if thats all i have, then i dont need locale to check my location as its not used in any situations.
