Media Volume Setting
A new setting to provide control of media volume
The Locale Media Volume Plug-in is available for free on the Android Market here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.twofortyfouram.locale.setting.media_volume
For those who are looking for Voice or Alarm volume settings, I’ve created two new requests. Please cast your votes there.

I'm looking for a plugin to let me change the setting of the *System* volume, a type you have not mentioned here but which seems it could easily be implemented either in Locale itself or in a plugin. I've installed the AllVolumes plugin but Locale gives me lots and lots of warnings about the instability of this plugin - but it seems to be the only way for me to control the System volume setting. Seems to me that there is a hole here where something could to be done to control this specific type of volume similar to the Media, Voice, and Alarm volumes referred to here.

I would like to be able to centrally control ALL of the volumes based on one of two conditions, either the Dock, or Headphones. What i would like to happen is for there to be a user defined standard set point for all volumes so that i can use GPS, listen to Pandora Radio, and take phone calls while driving. currently i have to separately adjust three volumes in order to balance them. how much better would it be to have them set automatically once the Droid determines that i have plugged the phone into the car radio, or it determines that it is in the car dock? then all i would have to do is set the radio volume to a comfortable level and pay attention to the road. PLEASE get this done. i installed the dock and the headphone plug-in, but uninstalled them when i realized that they cannot control the media, GPS, and in-call volumes.

Is it possible to set the media volume for the speaker separately from the headphones? It would be annoying to have it mute my headphones every time I walk into school, but it would be great if it would mute the speaker.

I would also like to be able to set the volume for email, sms, etc. I have Locale set up to switch into "night" mode when plugged in at night. I need a way to keep emails from waking me up. Right now I just have Locale turn off auto-sync, but this would be a better solution.

Just gave 3 point to this request, because I discovered that Volume setting doesn't affect Alarm volume. I want to wake me up gently on morning! :-)

I use to turn off all notification (sms, mail, call ring) during night. But I use my Android to wake up me in the morning too, and I don't want to be forced to turn on notifications before my alarm rings. So I'd find very useful to separate alarm volume from the others. More than useful: necessary.

You will find this is more annoying than not when you are playing music and you enter a condition that cuts the media volume...

OH HECK YES. I use Locale to set my "Volume" to zero during my college classes, and it was mildly embarrassing when the class got ultra-boring, so I started playing a game under the table, and the whole room heard Hyperspace Lite start up. So now I know that "Volume" does NOT refer to media volume. Vote vote vote vote.
