Open App Setting
It would be great if Locale could open up another Android application as a setting.
For example, Locale could to open a weather application at a certain time each morning.
The Locale Shortcut Plug-in 1.0 was released in the Android Market, implementing this feature request. With the Shortcut Plug-in, it is easy to launch another Android application automatically.
Note: Due to the limited availability of the Android Market, this plug-in may not be available in all regions.
For those interested in specifics, new plug-in can launch any “android.intent.action.MAIN” Activity automatically (including all apps that appear on the Home screen).

Using the above method of adding a plug-in and searching, this does not work. I did that and it is not listed. Is it elsewhere? I have searched the market as well with no luck. I would really like to get this added in!

I cannot download it from the market either. This is a real pitty, since this plugin would finally make locale useful to me. How can I get the plugin?

@cHuEn: You are correct: the plug-in is not available in your region due to the limited availability of the Android Market. There are currently no plans to distribute outside of the Android Market (doing so adds a lot of additional complexity to releasing updates).

@Carter
Thanks for your help.
I can't find it too.
May be this plugin is outside my Market region. May be I'm from Hong Kong, I cannot get the paid apps. Will you try to release in another paid platform? (e.g. SlideME) -

@cHuEn:
Try the following:
1. Open Locale
2. Press Menu
3. Tap "Get Plug-ins"
4. "Locale Shortcut Plug-in" should appear in the list of available plug-ins. -

@Carter: Will the implementation allow also for terminating applications if they are running?

Or open something like DgAway that will automatically respond to incoming calls with an sms. Another good one would be Face Of Ring, or another flip-your-phone-over-to-mute-it app so that if it's in your bag or on your car seat it won't mute, but if you're at work and you flip it, it will mute. The possibilities are endless on a feature like this, particularly if at the end of the Situation the app(s) close(s) down (kill, dead, end of discussion, I would guess would be best, or maybe leave that as an option eventually).

this would be great for tethering also!

On the flip side, it would also be nice to close the app when the profile is over, or close an app when a profile is activated. Better yet, have the option(s) for more than one app.

Incredibly useful. Please also allow sending data to applications. Build simple API that allows app developers to integrate communication between Locale and apps not only to start them, but to send them data.

could be also usefull, for example, to be able to chose an
application as condition. When a user open a certain app

This would be a good feature. It would also be handy if it was possible to pass the location to the app, or another configurable parameter (target app support allowing, of course)

Or open your to-do list app, maybe it could even open a specified bookmark, like if I bookmarked my RTM list that was tagged "target" when I was near my Target store!

This is one of my top wants for Locale. It could then launch everything from twitter app to Latitide.
