Add a "Country" Condition
Particularly useful for the Google Voice plugin, as it would allow users to change forwarding settings (voip numbers, gizmo, etc) without having to screw around with settings :)
Status: completedA third party developer has released the Locale CarrierID Plug-in as a paid app on the Android Market. Although not exactly implementing a "country" condition, I believe this satisfies @hypatia's end goal.

... to use the carrier id as condition, to allow/forbid data roaming for certain carriers...
If a provider has a national roaming partner to achive more coverage, the user has to use two networks.
Of couse if one forbids data roaming and he/she has poor reception, then no data connection at all is available. So basically one wants to set up a few exeptions to the data roaming lock.
... moreStatus: completedA third party developer has released the Locale CarrierID Plug-in on the Android Market, which implements part of this feature request. This plug-in can detect which carrier the device is currently connected to.
As far as toggling data roaming as a setting, that isn't possible due to Android security restrictions. Specifically, the data roaming setting is inaccessible to third party applications like Locale because it is stored in Settings.Secure. The developer documentation is here http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.Secure.html#DATA_ROAMING
The idea is that Google doesn't want some malicious app enabling data roaming without the user's knowledge, as users wouldn't be happy about huge data usage bills!
The alternative is using something like APNDroid (which has a Locale plug-in), in order to disable data connectivity. This doesn't change data roaming; it blocks all data. The end result may be similar, but the actual implementation is different.

Weather Condition

A condition that times how long the screen has been off
I want to set up a situation that would turn off the wifi after the screen has been timed-out for a period of time. It would really help with battery life. Even better would be able to switch 3g to 2g only, but that's another suggestion.
Status: completedAndroid will power down Wi-Fi automatically while the display is off and that phone is sleeping. There is no need to implement this in Locale, as it is already handled by Android. Adding this feature to Locale would not improve battery life.
If you are judging Wi-Fi power usage from the Android battery usage statistics screen, please note that we have found that information is inaccurate due to bugs in Android.
There is already a Display condition on the Developer page of our website, however it must be compiled from the source. We haven't compiled and released it on the Market for this reason: turning services off based on the screen really won't make a difference because Android already does that power management.

Add a setting for enable/disable audible and haptic feedback
In certain situations, I would like to change the settings for Haptic Feedback, Audible Touch Tones, and Audible Selection (all options under Sound & Display Settings).
For example, when my Droid is docked/plugged in, I would rather have audible feedback rather than haptic feedback (which vi... more

add the ability to set the manual IP address (subnet, proxy etc) for the wifi card
sometimes i visit companies where the network required me to enter in a specific set of network settings (IP, subnet, proxy, gateway etc etc). if would be great if Locale could alter these settings too.... love the app so far though. very powerful...
Status: completedThis has been implemented via the third party Locale IP/Proxy Plug-in, available on the Android Market.

GPS Settings Change Option
I'd like to request a GPS on or off depending on condition option. I have a car charger, and would like to say "turn GPS on when plugged in" so it's activated when I'm in the car. Would be easy to schedule overnight as an exception using start and end time conditions. I have Android... more

Call Forwarding Setting
Add a new setting to support changing call forwarding options
Status: completedApps cannot directly change call-forwarding settings on the phone, due to security restrictions in Android. Despite this, there are two workarounds to allow for a call forwarding setting:
1. The Locale Dial Plug-in setting can be set up to dial any number. Most cell phone carriers allow special dialing codes to enable/disable call forwarding. For example in the United States dialing *72 followed by a phone number will enable call forwarding to that number. Then dialing *73 later will disable call forwarding. Please consult with your carrier for its specific dialing codes.
2. Use Google Voice. The Locale Google Voice plug-in can be used to change Google voice call forwarding settings, although your callers must be dialing the Google Voice number for this to work.

Execute a user defined command on condition.
This would be almost as if it executed a command or multiple commands when a condition is met. this would make almost an unlimited amount of settings for advanced users, and not bog up the gui for normal users.
Status: completedAlthough the original request was unclear, I believe this is implemented by the Locale Execute Plug-in

I would like the ability to find my phone if the ringtone is set off via laptop or spouse phone
I would like the ability to find my phone if the ringtone is set off via laptop or spouse phone
Status: completedGood news! This can already be accomplished in a number of different ways.
You could create a Contact condition to turn the volume loud when your spouse calls. If you didn't want that to always happen, simply add a Location condition. (I'm assuming you'd most likely want this feature while at home).
Alternatively, there are a number of third party plug-ins that could also be useful. For example, you could set up the SMS condition to detect a specially crafted SMS from your spouse which triggers an insistent Notification Plug-in setting.

Gtalk Notification Disable
I want to be able to turn off google talk notifications in certains situations. Ie when I am at work, I don't want my phone to keep going off especially as I sit at a computer that has gooogle talk on it.
Status: completedUpdate August 4, 2010:
A third party developer has released the free "Locale gtalkcontrol Plug-in" on the Android Market which implements this feature request. This plug-in uses private APIs, so there are no guarantees that this plug-in will continue to work in the future however.
----
Unfortunately, apps like Locale cannot modify the notification settings of Google Talk or any other individual app. Locale can only change the system-wide notification settings (e.g. disable all notifications). The only ways to accomplish this would be:
1. Google creates a Locale Plug-in for Google Talk. (This would be similar to the K9 Mail Plug-in)
2. Some sort of Locale plug-in to sign you out of Google talk. But I'm not sure if this would be possible or not because I haven't looked at the Google Talk APIs. -

Adjust range for location
I live in a small town and use Locale to turn on WiFi when I am home. Problem is, it doesn't seem to allow a range adjustment so I can be away from my home wifi range yet it still turns on wifi which wastes my battery. I'd like to adjust the range to 100-200m or so. To allow for more pinpoint acc... more
Status: completedThis is already supported. Drag-and-drop the edge of the circle to resize.
The default size is based on available accuracy, so if it is large you probably need to perform Wi-Fi training.

Ability to set a rule so when I turn it on it will say on for a set amount of time then turn off
I would like to have a rule that when I turn on it will run for an amount of time the user specified.
Status: completedThe original request is unclear, although from my best understanding I believe this is fully implemented by the Locale Button Plug-in: The button plug-in allows situations to be manually triggered via an Android widget. The buttons can then have a user-configured timeout period.
If you're asking for something different, please post an additional comment with more information.

4G (WiMAX, LTE, etc.) Setting
Now that I've got an Evo, I've got a need for Locale to turn 4G on or off in certain situations.
Status: completedThis has been implemented by a 3rd party developer, yay! Please look for the Locale WiMAX / 4G Plug-in on the Android Market which is a paid download.
Note that although this plug-in should work great today, it uses private Android APIs which are subject to change and break with future Android/EVO updates.

create a user configurable orientation condition
I guess this is a little like the request to add a vertical condition, but a lot more flexible... with the ability to configure 'this' orientation within 'x' degrees would make the condition a lot more useful... Sure, most users either leave their phone face up or face down, but what if you have ... more
Status: completedFor such flexible orientation detection, Screebl Pro offers a Locale Plug-in. Check it out!
For pedometer type continuously checking whether the phone has moved, that just won't be possible as it would drain the battery within about 4 hours.

Driving condition
This would allow me to automatically turn bluetooth on on my phone when I am driving to enable me to use my bluetooth adaptor.
This could be based on average speed being above 5 mph for example.
Status: completedActually, I think there's a better way to organize this:
I'm marking this feature request as complete, as there are two ways currently to detect when the phone is in a car: a car dock condition or a Bluetooth condition, both of which are available now as plug-ins on the Android Market.
In order to have the votes correctly tallied, created a new request for a speed condition. If you want a speed condition, vote here:
