      AUTOMATIC BACKUP/RESTORE
Locale has automatic backup and restore using the cloud-based backup mechanism in Android 2.2 or later. There are no configuration options within Locale—it just works!

To use this feature, simply make sure that backup/restore is enabled by going to the Android Settings and verifying that Backup and Restore is enabled. (This option might be in a different place on different devices. With Android 2.2, it can be found under Android settings → Privacy. With Android 4.0, it can be found under Android settings → Backup & reset). Whenever Locale is uninstalled and reinstalled, the device is factory reset, or you upgrade to a new device, your Locale situations will be automatically restored. If there are no options for backup and restore under the Android Settings, then the device does not support automatic backup and restore.

Since backups are tried to a Google account, be sure to… more

At least give the ability to copy the data files to the sdcard and then reimport them (within the same version of locale). This will be very helpful if I have to factory reset my phone (as Motorola is suggesting).

I encourage you to provide backup support for your application by integrating with an application called MyBackup Pro, developed by RerWare, LLC. They have instructions on how you can integrate with their application for backup and restore functionality at the following link: http://www.rerware.com/MyBackup/integration.html
You can also contact their support team by email with any questions at the following email address: Support@RerWare.com

Thank you for a wonderful application, and I look forward to having the ability to backup and restore your application's data using MyBackup Pro.

Locale 1.0 offers significantly improved location detection that should solve this problem. You don’t have to do anything to configure it; Locale 1.0 handles this automatically. The solution doesn’t work exactly as you’ve described here, because the solution in Locale 1.0 is better :).

Locale 1.0 is available on the Android Market today in countries that support paid apps. Full release notes are here: http://www.twofortyfouram.com/notes.html

Or maybe a specific number of checks before it decides to "leave" the GPS location. This is important because I have a GPS location condition set around my synagogue (and I enlarged the circle considerably -- it is at least a quarter mile in diameter) where it turns off the sounds when I'm at temple. It will go into that location, but then sometimes pop out of it while I am still in the building there and then I'll get a "bloop" for an incoming text (very embarassing).

I have set another temple condition that covers the time of most Friday night services, but it doesn't cover some nights when there is an early service (and I don't want to set it that early since then I won't hear the alarm for going to dinner/services on the other weeks).

This is now supported in Locale 1.0. The Brightness setting now has an option to choose manual or auto brightness. If manual brightness is selected, then Locale will disable auto brightness so that the brightness can be adjusted.

I normally keep my Droid brightness turned all the way down (since that is generally bright enough) but there are some situations (e.g. car dock during daytime hours) where I need auto brightness.

As Chris said, this can be accomplished using the “Locale Power Power Source Plugin.” Simply add a Battery condition to detect the battery level, and a Power Source condition to detect being unplugged. Please note that this plug-in requires Android 2.0 or later.

This is now supported with the combination of Locale 1.0 and the “Locale Dock Plug-in”, both of which are available on the Android Market in countries that support paid apps.

Locale 1.0 supports plug-in conditions, so many more exciting features are coming soon :)

It should be able to differentiate between the car dock and the multimedia dock.
I would like to be able to set something that turns automatic screen brightness on when the Droid is inserted into the car dock (but not the multimedia dock) during daylight hours.

This is implemented by the Locale Button Plug-in, which can be found on the Android Market by choosing “Get Plug-ins” from the menu of the Locale home screen.

It would be really helpful to temporarily enable a profile for a specific length of time (selected at the time of enabling the profile). This would be useful for things like silencing the phone during the High Holidays (which happen only a few days each year and on different dates each year) and automatically re-enabling the sound/vibration after services are over.
