Forums are a great idea, which is why we provide this feedback website forum and the developer forum.
For information about plug-ins, simply choose “Get Plug-ins” from the menu inside Locale. Additionally, we are working on including more information about plug-ins on our website in the near future.
In terms of support for Locale, users should contact us directly. To learn how to use plug-ins, users should contact the plug-in developers directly.
At this time, we don’t have the resources to moderate and manage a forum for end users. Instead, we’re dedicating our efforts to improving the app and providing great direct email support.

The bad part is that the Apps market gives you only 24 hours to evaluate something before deciding if you want to keep it or get a refund. That’s an awfully tight schedule to try to test everything, and for that price I’d want to make DARN sure it was working FLAWLESSLY.
For $2 I would have bought it without a second thought.
For $5 I would have cringed, thought about it for a while, but probably would buy it in the end.
At $10, I’m looking around at other options. If nothing pans out, then I may be forced to come back and bite the bullet, but there is at least one that looks promising.

Dude! $10? Ouch!
That puts you just off the “most expensive Android Apps” list…

Oops… I was just following updates whenever the Android Market notified me that an update is available, and I missed that Locale went from Beta to Release.
I’ll grab the paid app and see if things are working again after that.

Since the last update to Locale, some things have stopped working correctly, but I am not able to find a venue to see if I’ve done something dumb, or if there is a real issue.

Rather than donate via Paypal, please download Locale 1.0 from the Android Market :).
Locale 1.0 is available on the Android Market today in countries that support paid apps. Full release notes are here: http://www.twofortyfouram.com/notes.html

This has been implemented by the “Locale Call Detection Plug-in” plug-in condition for Locale 1.0. To find this plug-in on the Market, simply open Locale and choose Get Plug-ins from the menu.

Actually, I think there’s a better way to organize this:
I’m marking this feature request as complete, as there are two ways currently to detect when the phone is in a car: a car dock condition or a Bluetooth condition, both of which are available now as plug-ins on the Android Market.
In order to have the votes correctly tallied, created a new request for a speed condition. If you want a speed condition, vote here:

The original request here was for a logical NOT operator, although it doesn’t make sense to create a logical NOT operator in Locale. Most of the time, NOT isn’t the right way of thinking about a Condition. For example, NOT 9 am to 5 pm could be redefined as 5pm to 9am. NOT at work would simply be the Default situation. For the other conditions built-in to Locale, thinking about the problem in a different way usually means that NOT isn’t needed. If a Condition truly needs NOT logic, then that should probably be put into the individual Condition’s UI itself rather than as part of the Edit Situation screen in Locale.
Although this request is for a NOT operator, I believe the underlying request here is a way of detecting the transition between situations. The strongest use case would be detecting when you’ve left a particular Location. While Locale… more

@carter: The link just takes me to the feedback forum, not to any specific post?
One of your competitors is “Tasker”. While it’s not aimed at exactly the same market (Locale went the “ease of use” route, Tasker is going the “crazy number of things that can be tested and actions to perform” route)
Tasker is much earlier in its development lifecycle than Locale (it’s only about half way through the Beta cycle)
Which means that it needs to be considered with a grain of salt, yet, but the Author is planning to release at around the $3/$4 mark when the app is ready to come out of Beta.
