A 3rd party developer has created a plug-in called “Locale Lockscreen Plug-in” that implements this feature request.
This plug-in can be found by choosing the “Get Plug-ins” menu item within Locale.

Ok I get that, but it will only vibrate if you have the vibrate option checked in the SMS settings. Couldn't Locale activate that option?

This is implemented by the Locale Button Plug-in, which can be found on the Android Market by choosing “Get Plug-ins” from the menu of the Locale home screen.

Well wouldn't work just fine if you prioritize the manually set profiles just like you would any other profile in Locale? That way you could have a "silent" profile at the top and override all other triggers that Locale would pick up. Then you could also have it set to turn off the manually set "silent" profile when you get back home by putting your 'Home' situation above the manual profile.

With Locale’s open plug-in architecture, the Locale part of this feature request is complete.
At this point dgAway would simply need to implement a plug-in setting for Locale. Please contact the author of dgAway, as the ball is now in his court.

Instead of collaborating, it would make more sense to build this into the SMS Plugin for Locale. That way I wouldn't have to install another application.

I like this idea. I don't want the security pattern when I'm at my house but always forget to turn it on and off when I leave so it would be great if Locale could manage this for me.
